Quote:The 10 Rules of Eve
1st Rule Of Eve = Never trust anyone.
2nd Rule Of Eve = It's always a trap.
3rd Rule Of Eve = If it sounds too good to be true, refer to Rule 1 and 2.
4th Rule Of Eve = Don't fly what you can't replace.
5th Rule Of Eve = The only safe place is in station.
6th Rule Of Eve = Undock from station is consent for PvP.
7th Rule Of Eve = When in doubt, refer to Rule 4, 5 and 6.
8th Rule Of Eve = There is no correct way to play.
9th Rule Of Eve = Conversation gains Information.
10th Rule Of Eve = To correctly play Eve, refer to Rule 8 and 9.
No I'd suggest the only rule of Eve is to never stop training a skill. All the rest is just a case of common etiquette. I trust those I come to know. The only trap is your own arrogance as you should always remain in doubt.
I fly insured.
Stations being safe is a fact. Not a rule.
Undocking is not a consent to Pvp. I am not giving anybody permission or approval to attack my ship simply because they've the choice to do so. That is an incredibly perverse way to view a choice and for reasons I dare not speculate.
Not sure what rule 8 tries to imply. A correct way to play does exist. The correct way is my way.
Conversation is the exchange of info.. again not a rule but an obvious detail to reality. And rule 10 you are just being redundant. |

Technically you're right, you give your consent when you login and choose a character. Eve is a PvP game, regardless of what you think, as such when you play you are consenting to PvP. Just as you consent to PvP when you play DayZ or Battlefield with other players.
Again, you confuse consent with something entirely different. If you require an analogy think of it like this. Assuming you knew you could get away with murder or it was "allowed", remaining inside this uncivil scenario, if you were to walk into a gun store and purchase a gun this does not give you the consent to shoot the man. Regardless of whether or not your reasoning was "he sold me the gun" or "he knew the risks of my purchase".
I'll repeat myself when I say this is a perverse view of an opportunity you may take.
Of course this is just a video game and of course people will derive their own fun. I am perfectly aware of the risk Eve presents but your use of consent here is that of a sociopath. Neither is it a clever thought. |

I gave verifiable evidence to my claim. First by correcting the misuse of the word. Then by analogy.

It requires the participating of two in order to enter a consent. You don't need to be a shrink or have a "Cracker Jack" Phd to distinguish a person who says they may act alone and decide on behalf of another from that of a healthy mind. |

It's Latin for "shrink". |

Ok, you do think I am wrong. Why not just say so to begin?
According to you correcting the literal interpretation of one word(consent) does not qualify me to literally define someones actions based on another word(sociopath). Ok so you've conceded consent was misused but that it's misuse, if taken literally, does not define the behavior of a sociopath. And your reasoning for this is due to my lack of education as a trained professional.
Are you further suggesting that labeling someone as a masochist, psychopath, sadomasochist, ect, much like sociopath cannot be determined by anybody without proper background to help these people? Which is what a professional does... they dont just diagnose- they help. That's the difference and I never made any such claim. You however fail to make the distinction.
Please, friend. |
